FCC Construcción takes part in the EIC Spring Conference 2026
FCC Construcción is taking part in the EIC Spring Conference 2026, Europe’s largest event for engineering and construction contractors, making Málaga the epicentre of technology and innovation applied to infrastructure. The topics discussed focused on how digitalisation, the use of data, artificial intelligence and new technologies can be turned into practical applications capable of boosting productivity, competitiveness and sustainability in the construction sector at an international level.
The global construction sector has entered a decisive phase of transformation driven by the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, digitalisation, data and advanced technologies. These innovations are redefining the way infrastructure is planned, designed, built and maintained, creating significant opportunities to boost efficiency, improve safety and promote more sustainable outcomes. At the same time, they pose new challenges relating to data governance, cybersecurity, legal liability, workforce skills, public procurement practices and the ability of public institutions to adapt to rapid technological change. How international contractors address these opportunities and risks will be crucial to maintaining competitiveness and ensuring the delivery of resilient, future-proof infrastructure.
FCC Construcción participated with Antonio Burgueño, Director of Sustainability and Innovation, examining how the practical applications of AI and digital tools deliver tangible benefits throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning and design through to construction, operation and maintenance.
The discussion explored how digital platforms, data-driven processes, predictive analytics, digital twins, robotics, automation and cloud-based solutions are transforming traditional project delivery models and accelerating innovation across the sector.
