The award of the Cajamarca wastewater treatment plant contract boosts our business portfolio in Peru to 1,000 million euros

Aqualia has just been awarded the contract for the Cajamarca Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) project, promoted by PROINVERSIÓN under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme. The 26-year project involves the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of a modern sanitation infrastructure with a capacity to treat 592 litres per second.

The project will provide a permanent solution to a long-standing problem in the city of Cajamarca, where wastewater is currently discharged untreated into the Mashcón and Cajamarquino rivers. Thanks to this new infrastructure, more than 365,000 residents will benefit from significant improvements in public health, environmental protection and quality of life.

The award of the Cajamarca contract comes just over a year after the award of the Chincha sanitation project, reinforcing Aqualia’s position as one of Peru’s leading international partners in the development of highly complex water and sanitation infrastructure. Taken together, these two projects bring the company’s portfolio in the Andean country to a figure of close to 1,000 million euros.
